About Big Dog Golden Years
Big Dog Golden Years exists because large and giant breed dogs don't age like small dogs — and most senior-dog advice online is written as if they do. We focus specifically on dogs 50 lbs and up: their faster aging, their breed-specific risks, and the gear, food, and insurance built for their size.
Our Medical Review Process
Every health-related article on this site is written for large-breed dog owners, not veterinary professionals, and is intended to be reviewed by a licensed veterinarian (DVM) before it is treated as final, published advice. Reviewed articles are marked with the reviewer's name, credentials, and the date of review at the top of the article. Articles that have not yet completed that review are clearly labeled as pending.
Our Editorial Standards
- • We write specifically for large (51–90 lb) and giant (90+ lb) breed dogs — sizing, dosing context, and product recommendations are chosen with that weight range in mind.
- • We do not provide exact medication dosing, definitive diagnoses, or cure claims. Health content uses probability language ("may indicate," "it's worth asking your vet about") and directs readers to a licensed veterinarian for anything urgent or uncertain.
- • Product and service recommendations may include affiliate links. Our affiliate relationships never determine what we recommend — see our Privacy & Affiliate Disclosure page for details.
